DB row - 75lbs x6x10reps, I did these in between warm up sets of DB press

Giant DB - up to 200lbsx6 reps. Right hand only. My plan is to get 9 reps within a 90 sec time limit by June

Fri March 22

11 inch Reverse band DL, approx. 100lbs  off bottom of lift. band de-load above knee - Up to 875lbsx1 rep

Sand bag load over 58 inches - 305x3, 345x1

Super Yoke - 450x5 sets of 30ft

Decline Glute Ham raises - 11 reps, 8 reps

side planks + 35lbs - 60 sec x2 sets

V sit ups 3x10

My Pre-Workout shake consisted of 50grams of I-PLX whey protein and 50 grams of Waxy Maize

My post workout shake was 30 grams of BCAA mettle, put on a stringer and went home.

Monday March 11 Pressing

I was looking forward to today because I had nothing planned and felt like Christian Savoie had hit me in the back with a sledge hammer. Painful. This stemmed from event training on Saturday, which consisted of high volume super yoke, Sandbag load over bar and posterior chain accessory work.

Monday March 11

Close grip bench - 135x8, 225x8, 295x6, 365x4, 405x9
Seated DB press - 75'sx16, 85x12, 105x12
band tricep pushdowns - 120lbs of tension x 12, 240lbs+ x5, x5, 120lbs x12
lateral raises - 35lbs x3setsx12-20reps
band pull apart - 2x12 reps
My pre-workout drink consisted of 10grams of BCAA(mettle), 5 grams of creatine monohydrate, and I had the same drink post workout along with my usual shake I choke down.

March 7 Overhead training

After a long morning of acupuncture, massage, cooking and shovelling food into my mouth I decided to train the Giant Dumbell press. I wasn't happy with the result, as I was shooting for 3-4 reps.

Sunday March 3 event training

This was my first time being able to simulate most of the events for the Las Vegas Giants Live Qualifier April 20th. I was looking forward to training events specifically, as training gym lifts for the last three months has caused me to pick up some bad habits, ex. curling in the power rack, swiss ball sit-ups, and getting frosted tips.

Speed deadlift from 14 inches - worked up to 655x6x1rep approx. 60sec between sets

Overhead press medley - 170lbs dumbbell, 330lbs log, 320lbs axle done in approx. 25 sec

Tire flip - 850lbsx8flips

Farmers Walk - 345lbs per hand x120ft total, drop and pick at 30ft.

chin ups - 15

I consumed about 30grams of BCAA(Mettle) throughout the workout and 10 grams of Creatine(CreaPLX) before and after. My bodyweight was approx.

Feb 15

Speed DL from 12 inches - This will be the height the max deadlift will be from at the competition in April. We had 405lbs in plate weight and 80lbs approx. in chains. I did 3 sets of 3 reps, after every rep 10lbs per side was added to the bar to slow the stretch reflex the body usually has while doing repetitions.

Super Yoke - I worked up to 700lbs for 120ft with drop and turns at 40 ft. I will attempt 900lbs for 80ft in about 5 weeks.

Front Squat for time - I started this exercise mainly to build pain tolerance. I used 315lbs and squatted to a parallel box, once I could not complete anymore reps my partner would add another box making the squat higher but allowing me to continue until my 75 sec was up. I lost count but I think the reps were somewhere around 25-27.

I used my BCAA drink a bit differently this workout also, instead of sipping on 20-30grams of Mettle by Precision I drank 10grams immediately  after each large set. I felt this worked better for my overall  endurance of the 120 min workout.
Coming off of a small back injury while attempting to deadlift 375kg I decided to take it easy the first few weeks of my training cycle for Giants Live qualifier in Las Vegas in April


Feb 8

14 inch Deadlift - worked up to 585x11 deadstop each rep. I was embarrassed that all I could manage was 11 but I still had some back pain and decided to stop.

Decline GHR - I can usually manage 20 or more reps weighted on a regular GHR, but we elevated the back of the machine and I struggled with 3x5.

Precision PRO/Las Vegas Giants Live qualifier training

Just received my first supplement package as a Precision PRO! Training for the Las Vegas Giants live qualifier and the road to qualifying for the World's Strongest Man competition starts today. First training session will be tomorrow after a lengthy/painful massage.
